How To Stop Someone From abducted
What to do if accidentally or intentionally locked in the trunk
Run! The best defense is to run away from the encounter. Run and do not stop or look back. Run to a safe place with people all around. While you are running and during the attack, shout out what is happening. Do not just scream, yell out what is happening.
Put up a fight: When you can’t run, and yelling does not work, it is time to fight. Try to carry mace with you and aim for the bad guy’s eyes, it will almost incapacitate them and give you time to get lose and run away. Use your keys to gouge their eyes, take your fingers and make like a chicken pecking and shove them hard into their eyes. The eyes and between the legs are vulnerable. Fight to gain control back, because once you are in their car, they now have complete control.
Go LIMP. Immediately. Collapse. Let your knees go and fall. Think of a 2-year old who doesn't want to be picked up. Somehow that 25 pound 2-year old all of a sudden cannot be picked up.
Roll. Once you are on the ground, if there is a car nearby (she was enacting these tips in a mall parking lot). Roll under the nearest car.
Scream "FIRE!!!" as loud as you can. People will ALWAYS look if they think there is a fire.
If you end up trapped in the trunk of a car, there’s no immediate cause to panic. There’s plenty of air to breathe, so collect your thoughts and find your way out. There are ways to escape that are simple, including one designed just for the purpose of exiting a closed trunk.
Since 2001, it has been mandatory for automakers to provide enclosed trunks with an emergency interior trunk release handle. Directly connected to the trunk latch is an additional trunk release cable. The trunk opens quickly after being activated.
Break through the backseat
If your kidnappers have left you in a car trunk and abandoned the car and there is no emergency release, you can try to bust your way out through the backseat. It’s going to take some force and perseverance, but your survival could depend on it!
Step 1: Check for a back seat release handle. Some cars with fold-down rear seats have release handles mounted in the trunk area.
Look for a small release handle mounted under the back deck area, right below where the back window is located. If you find a handle, give it a firm pull. You might need to push on the seat to get it to fold.
Step 2: Locate a weak spot on the backseat. It may take a few tries to find the right spot to make your break for it.
Use Some Tools, Feel around for a screwdriver or tire iron you can use to pry the trunk latch open. If that isn’t an option or doesn’t work, use the tire jack and some kind of block to push on the center of the trunk near the latch, hopefully breaking it. Or you could pry up a corner of the trunk lid, then signal other drivers for help.
Kick Your Way Out. If the car is parked and empty, kick through the backseat and crawl out through the passenger compartment. If you can’t manage that kind of escape, you might be able to kick out a tail light from inside the trunk. Once the light is out, stick your hand out through the hole and wave to attract help. Or, Kick through the panel leading to the brake lights and then kick the lights out if you are in the trunk and can not find a release lever. Stick your arm out through the hole where the lights were and wave it around to draw the attention of other motorists.
