Pierre Poilievre accuses Justin Trudeau of meeting with Former SS Nazi Officer before HOC gives him standing ovation.
We are living in a complete inversion of common sense and rational thought
OTTAWA, Ont. — A Canadian parliamentarian has issued an apology to Jewish communities worldwide after lawmakers honored a veteran accused of being involved in a Nazi division during World War II. The incident occurred during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Canada, when Yaroslav Hunka, a 98-year-old veteran, was given a standing ovation by members of Parliament. Hunka is alleged to have fought with the First Ukrainian Division, also known as the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division, which served under the command of the Nazis.
Jewish organizations in Canada have condemned the honoring of Hunka as "disturbing" and "beyond outrageous." House Speaker Anthony Rota, who introduced Hunka as a war hero, has accepted responsibility for the blunder and apologized for recognizing him.
Conservative opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre has criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office for approving the invitation and demanded an apology.
Russian media outlets have also reported on the incident, while the Russian embassy in Canada called it an insult to the memory of Canada's soldiers
We will see what comes out of this, probably nothing. To be honest most Canadians have lost all faith in our governement. We are rules by plutocrates who don’t care if we live or die
